From ConceptWiki

Here is a breakdown of the changes I made to the front page:

This Wiki environment is a consortium initiative that has a much broader scope than just 'proteomics', although a main focus is on proteins and their role in biology and disease.

Strange way to start. Moved this sentence to the start of the second paragraph. Also information about the consortium should be linked here.

In this Wiki, you can find information on more than a million biomedical concepts but more importantly, you can add your own knowledge about your favorite concepts. A collaborative effort of millions of bright minds each participating in the area of their own expertise is an incredible approach for capitalizing on the knowledge of the entire scientific community.

'bright minds' / 'incredible approach' - these are bad terms to use. Who says i'm bright? I don't like it. It sounds ugly. Secondly, have you thought what 'incredible' really means? The root of the word? In-credible? Its a bad word to use. I cut both of these terms as they are totally redundant anyway.

The Wiki has been initially filled using information provided by several consortium members to jumpstart a forum capable of developing a valuable knowledge repository. Scientists will be able to add new or edit existing textual commentary, for example, to nuance or describe new biological functions or processes. It will also be possible to establish links between two records to illustrate pertinent relationships. All modifications are attributed to the participating scientist and certain granting agencies have indicated that they are interested in using the resulting contributions as indices of scholarly achievement. Eventually, the most mature stage of the community data can be combined with the latest version of the authoritative source data and acknowledgment will be given for the scientific contribution. Gradually, more authoritative sources will be added to the Wiki. In principle, all high quality resources that describe interactions between biologically meaningful concepts can greatly benefit from inclusion in this environment to expand their information base via the input of experts in the community.

OK, no edits here because I have a few quetsions. What resources? What versions? How often will the wiki be kept up to date? What is the process? Second, 'certain granting agencies' - this is far too vague. Please give details or this should be removed. Third, 'all high quality resources ... can greatly benifit from ...' - says who? This is your suposition and should not be presented as a statement of fact. Finally, what is the timeline for including resources and what is planned to be included. Which resources have been already included and where can I find out more about them. Yes I know its all detailed elsewhere, but it should be linked here too.

Thanks for the great project - I hope my edits and comments are not too 'brutal'. For my own part, honest feedback on honest work is always appreciated, no matter what the level. I hope it OK to take the same attitude here. --Dan Bolser 15:47, 22 June 2008 (EDT)

Thanks for your contributions on the Main page. All help is appreciated. Hopefully we'll get a new version of our 'About us' text that answers some (all?) of your questions when we implement a little more stylish Main page. Again just another thing on the to-do list.
Great :-) --Dan Bolser 10:00, 23 June 2008 (EDT)
